According to Kommersant, on 9 October 2012 Russia’s second largest mobile phone operator MegaFon, owned by TeliaSonera, Alisher Usmanov’s AF Telecom and Alfa Group’s telco holding Altimo, will officially announce plans to hold an IPO, which will be organised by Morgan Stanley, Sberbank, Credit Suisse Group AG, Citigroup Inc and VTB.
The mobile operator may offer up to 15 per cent of its shares on the London Stock Exchange and MICEX, primarily shares owned by the Swedish-Finnish telco TeliaSonera, as well as some treasury shares. The potential IPO date is 1 November 2012.
At the end of the second quarter of 2012 MegaFon had 62 million subscribers in Russia and another 1.68 million outside Russia. Its second-quarter revenues totalled RUB 66.76 billion and net profits RUB 1.7 billion.
