JCDecaux interested in buying 25 per cent of Russ Outdoor
As reported in Kommersant on 15 October 2012, the largest global outdoor advertising corporation JCDecaux Group has renewed its interest in News Outdoor, which has been renamed Russ Outdoor, and may announce plans to buy a 25 per cent interest this week.
Four years ago it had been in the process of acquiring 100 per cent of the company for an estimated EUR 1 billion, only for the deal to fall through due to the global financial crisis.
The company was renamed Russ Outdoor last year following the acquisition of 79 per cent in July 2011 from Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. by a consortium of investors VTB Capital, Marathon Outdoor Cooperatief (managed by Alfa Capital Partners) and Sistema Mass Media CEO Peter Gerby.
