Vladimir Lisin wins tender for 25 per cent of Freight One

According to business daily Kommersant, on 16 October 2012 Vladimir Lisin’s UCLH has won the tender to acquire from Russian Railways 25 per cent of Freight One, Russia’s largest private freight rail operator.  Lisin already controls 75 per cent minus two shares in Freight One.

However, the company’s victory is likely to be short-lived, as another interested company AFK Sistema claims that it was prevented from participating in the tender. AFK Sistema President Mikhail Shamolin stated the company would contest the tender results either in court or through an appeal to the board of directors of Russian Railways, which still has to approve the sale.
